Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

Is this a fairly straightforward job? I've got the gasket from Tousley, is there anything else I need?

My valve cover is a Countour cover, does that make a difference?

Which gasket did you buy?

There were a couple different gaskets used on the Contour and they're different than Focus gaskets.

Everyone knows black caulking = ghetto, white caulking = pimp.

I just got a Focus one, I didn't even think about the fact I had a Contour cover. Do you have the Contour gaskets in stock? Are there any other grommets, bolts, nuts, etc., that I will need?

It's completely straight forward.

You need the valve cover gasket for the contour valve cover you have, not for a focus valve cover as they are different.

It depends what year cover it is. We probably have it though, any way you can bring a sample or the cover or is it your only car?

Had to stop and think about that... yeah, I'm actually down to one car now.

I'll see if Brian knows what year that valve cover is.

I've also heard that once you start using black caulking, you don't go back to the white caulking.

And once you start with red RTV, you're perpetually shirtless, drunk and sleeping on a park bench...

After some research, it look like the '95-'97 Contour valve covers are the ones that fit. It also looks like since mine is an early 2000 car, the gasket I have will work. I'll have to go out and look when I'm not feeling so lazy.
