i'm making a kickass fiberglass box that is going to mount the sub on the left hand side. It ought to be pretty flush with the rest of the trunk when I'm done, and will be kickass and light 8)

In fact, i should go look at my progress...

oh yeah, i rock at teh fiberglass... My box probably should be done in a day or two, then I'll post some pics :D

Are you making a stealth box? Like the one you bought? Or is it alittle different?

If I had the money, I would get this... I like the factory built in look. 8)

I would just be happy to even have a amp and sub in my car :x

well, its sort of like the one I bought, except it will fit. The mach box didn't fit, and I figured rather than destroy it, i'd sell it and mold a box off of the mach box out of fiberglass, and make THAT one fit.

Thats pretty much what a Stealth Box is, what me and spots is talking about. I saw the build up pics. He tore out everything, taped the inside, and fiberglassed the rear of it, then molded the wood face on it, carpet, and away you go.

How much was he looking at getting for the box on FJ?

he wants $450, which isn't horrible for a custom box like that with equipment, but I think its a little overpriced and I wouldn't pay it. That box is a lot like what i'm going to end up with

I'd probably drop $300 on something like that, i'm a pretty DIY type of guy, and i'm getting pretty good with fiberglass

well, as it turns out, there are pretty significant differences back there on the hatch from the sedan, so I'm starting over. I'm going to use the metal mesh form method. I'll get that ball rolling tomorrow 8)

anyone with a sedan who wants a fiberglass abortion that should fit on the left side of their trunk, lemme know and i'll hang on to it

I started a project in the hatch tonight...the amp rack is almost done. I am hoping to have the sub template done and I think I got some glass/resin too so I might be able to start the other side but I gotta get the driver first before I can cut it and junk make sure I got the space.

I will have enough 1/2" mdf left over to make 2 or 3 of those stealth boxes and mine will be pulled in a lot more then that box is, it will sit set in under the lip for the hatch cover. My amp rack is going on the other side in a simular fasion. I am fine tuning the pieces tonight.
