started tunning today some small problems
Well after a couple hours on the dyno at hitech they decided my maf was to small. And shortly after my clutch took a shit. So with my dyno time today I got 118.65hp at 3500rpms and 156.95 torque at 3750rpms. As soon as I get a new mafs and clutch I can go back and they'll finish the tunning free of chaarge.

I still have the crown vic MAF with seperated AIT sensor I just got a little busy last week and couldn't meet up with you. BTW you still got those 15" wheels?

Are you using the seprate iat sensor? When i sold it to that other guy, I had a lighting iat sensor installed right above the TB.
Its a 70mm MAF from a 2001 Crown Victoria. Picked itup at a bone yard. I was talking with Hitech's tuner and he said that one, a stang maf or the like would be perfect for tuning the focus.

After talking with Mitch he seemed to favor running an SVTF MAF in a 3" housing. This was also with my plans for next year which are to push much more HP than what your car will be. It pretty much breaks down into where you can get a cheaper maf. IIRC Steve has the SVT maf for around $70. I don't have my price list here though so I can't confirm.

Crown Vic MAF, did you also grab the injectors?(not sure if the vic's are #19, sorry); there could also be a injector time to open issue(driver voltage issue?). Why not use the maf and injectors from a SHO instead?

They are 19# on most v8's, IIRC, the 460 got the brown tops, 36# I belive, otherwise they where all 19#, cpet for 03/04 cobra/lighting, I am sure they where 36#'s.
19's are a dime a dozen if your slick, head to a stang forum and buy the maf/injectors used for nil. stangnet.com? corral.net, and, a few other sites you may be able to nab them, crownvic.net?, tccoa.com. The question marks are sites I don't know by heart, but, google and ye shall recieve.
Also, new car parts cheap rockauto.com, and, used car parts, car-part.com, its a super site of a lot of salvage yards that post parts they have for sale.
Foci, look on focal jet, there was a thread I seen about what maf to use, I thought it was the svt maf? Not sure, not runnig boosted so I was not paying attention. Get that car goin' boy!

Well the crown vic runs 8 injectors, and teh focus runs 4 of them, if you take the voltage from 8 19# injectors it is almost identical to running 4 39# injectors, so with the crown vic maf its almost plug and play.

You must explain this more.
Well I used to have an SPI focus, I was planning on turboing it, the largest injectors that are reasonably priced for teh SPI are 39# injectors (42# for the Zetec)
Injectors and MAFs work together based off voltages. When ppl started tuning the focus they would get their MAF re-calibrated based off of injector size and voltage (this is not needed anymore as a good tuner can tune out the differences with a chip) like right now the focus I bought back in october has a 70mm Pro-M MAF but stock injectors, the old owner was sponsored by pro-m before they went out of business so was a test gunie pig of sorts and tested out several of their MAF calibrations, basicallly voltage relays and resistors, Pro-M was able to find the right set of resistors and calibration to get the extreamly large 70mm MAF to work with the stock injectors by matching the voltage of the stock MAF.
Essetially I was talking about doing the same thing with the Crown Vic MAF, the crown vic maf is, lets say for numbers sake, is calibrated for 8 (1 injector per cylander) 19# injectors which i dunno lets say run at 2 volts per hour or whatever, 8 * 2 = 16 volts so that is what the crown vic maf is calibrated for 16 volts (this is just for explanation not acutal numbers)
now look at the 39# injectors, say each injector is setup for 4 volts per injector, 4 * 4 = 16 volts, which matches up perfectly for the crown vic maf, and no calibration is needed to get them to work perfectly together.
So basically 8 19# injectors is about the same voltage as 4 39# injectors, same voltage means you can use any Ford V8 MAF that is calibrated for 19# injectors are use it out of the box on a focus running 4 39# injectors.

I am still confused. How does the load voltage of the MAF relate to how many injector you have? I thought that was the job of the load table, MAF transfer function in the EEC.

haha I guess I dont know how to explain it any better than i did, The MAF takes that thoretical 16 volts and sends that signal to the ECU to do the rest of it, if you take lets say a stock MAF and put 4 42# injectors the voltages will be way off and teh car will run either way too lean or way too rich.
When you matach voltages of your injectors and your MAF it sends the correct signal to the ECU to do the rest of the job.
