Power steering problems.

Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

Another problem has popped up. I thought a 5x,xxx miles car would avoid these problems! But, it's leaking, about a reservoir a week. Looked like it was coming from the pump. Is this common, and Steve could you get a price on that for me?

Is it leaking from the shaft seal or from a line fitting?

I really couldn't tell and didn't have time to inspect it well when I was last working on it. I'll take a look and see what I can see tomorrow.

If it's your rack, I have a good rack in my garage. 50k on it. I had issues with mine a while back and was told it was my rack, so I replaced it with a new(er) one and still had issues, so the rack is fine. Let me know, I'd be willing to let it go hella cheap, just to free up space in my garage. I'll toss out a number, $100, meeting up. Let me know.

it's dripping down onto the AC pump, and coming from there so I doubt it's the rack. Rack looked fine.

have someone sit in the car and turn the wheel all the way in one direction. if you have a leak on the pressure side you'll see where its coming from real fast.

It feels like most of it may be coming out the hard line at the bottom of the pump. But I did notice it looked wet around the shaft, could just be splash. Is the hard line that comes up over the front of the valve cover the positive side because it looks like that line may be leaking a little where it goes from rubber to hard line near the valve cover.

That connection I circled shows that it may be a little bit of leaking going on. (thats not my car)

I'm hoping it's the line, I'm gonna start with that. Steve got one on hand?

That's the high pressure line and we do stock it, you'll need that and a new fitting.

I'm off till Monday so if you order it get the SVT line and the fitting P/N F5RZ-3R608-B ( I think I have that memorized correctly) to go with it.

Trick is to screw the fitting in to the pump first (not tight) and then snap the line into it and snug the fitting down.
