This morning I was getting the kids ready for school (they walk) and at breakfast I told them they had to wear their boots and snowpants for the walk to shool today.

My eight year old daughter says "Whats the temperature Dad?"

I say "It's -1"

Both kids start whining "But Daaaaaaaaad, it's barely even below zero. why do we need our boots and snowpants?"

I had to hold back my laugh, They're 8 and 10 and it's not like they don't know about cold weather. They just don't care, they're used to it.

I had a guy on the phone in Florida yesterday that sadi his wife lets the car warm up when it gets down to 50 degrees.

Minnesotans are tough, we may be stupid for living here but we're tough! 8)

Doesn't it usally get to about -20 before they even think about closeing schools here?

I like it when late winter comes around 40-45 degrees comes in and we are in t-shirts and driveing with are windows down.

I grew up in Eastern Washington and lived in Western Washington just north of Seattle for 7 months. It snowed about 1/4 inch one day and it took me 1.5 hours to get home from work. I lived 3 miles from my work on the same street!!!

The Seattle area doesn't get much snow and 19 degrees is a lot colder when you have the moist air. A lot colder, the cold sticks to you.

I'm going to Vegas for New Year's Eve and it snowed there yesterday! How am i supposed to get away from the snow!!! Global warming.

Just talked to my Dad in Spokane, WA (Eastern WA no where near Seattle) They have had 17" of snow over the past 24 hours, my dad said they had 30+" on the ground at the house. He also mentioned that last year they had a total of 98" of snow over the winter. Mom was going to have to stay at work (Sacred Heart Medical Center) since people could not make it in. We got it easy here.

Ya, we get the cold, but really not that much snow. Like the 200+ in the up, or mountain areas. I tell people its 10 below, and they freak out. Minnesota has some of the biggest weather extremes, second to perhaps siberia. We are so far from the moderating effects of the oceans.
Let's go boating.

I've lived In MN my whole life. The older I get the less I like it. I can't wait until I can get out of here. Some place with a moderate climate. Colorado Springs comes to mind or Reno, or maybe Flagstaff. Some place south with a little elevation to help keep it cool in the summer....

I like day dreaming.
