I drove to Topeka, Kansas last weekend and checked my mileage over the 1400 mile round trip journey. I fought pretty significant winds on the way down (20-30mph from the South West), ran the Air conditioning about 85% of the time, Idled the car for 1 hour while I caught a quick nap and most of the trip was at 70 mph. I was pretty happy to get a solid 29 mpg given the conditions and was glad to be able to out run the storms on the way home. There was a lot of standing water in central Iowa last weekend I can't imagine after this weeks rain what it looks like down there now.
