hail storm
Yes
I've got a Sangria Red Focus to prove it. My daughter had it up in the northern suburbs Sunday when we got the call. The drivers side of the car survived.....every other body panel has dents.

Ouch. I managed to get mine under cover about 5 minutes before the hail started.

Car was in the garage and we didn't get any hail here nor any wind to speak of we were on the very Northern edge of the system so only rain.

Man I feel for anyone that got hail damage. I've had three different cars get trashed. I hate hail. My car sits out too. That storm made me think about what to do if I ever get it repainted.

Pants too tight, wheels so bright!
I have an idea for a padded car cover that you put on when it hails.
I think the idea is great in our area for people without garages. The padding is made out of non-absorbant, 1/2"-1" thick, foam-rubber and is in the shape of the car, with ties on the bottom so it doesn't fly off during the wind.
I remember the appartment I used to live didn't have garage stalls; and I would watch my car (worried to hell) during any hail storms.
Although it would't help with softball sized hail- geeze!. Did you guys see the hail size on the news?

Yeah, after my last hail damage event, I thought about something too. My "design" was basically a two layer car cover that would fill be filled by the exhaust. Just had to pull it out, fill it up, and put it on. Probably wouldn't do squat for baseball size hail, but golfball or less probably would be the limit....GearHead wrote:I have an idea for a padded car cover that you put on when it hails.
