The whole situation is just nuts.

I saw it on the news right after it had happened and i couldn't believe it.

I got back to work after meeting Zurno at around 4:15 at Porkies on Uni then visiting my mom as she heals at an ambulatory facility near the state fair grounds. Left her about 5:30-5:45 as it was her dinner time, wheeled her to the dining room and left to go back to work. I started up Snelling not looking forward to running all the way to 694 and fighting the West bound traffic at that time of night so I took 36 West and planned on taking some "back roads". 36W blends with 35W South heading into the heart of Minneapolis and crosses the river, as I came nearer to the jog at Johnson street traffic was starting to back up so I decided to take the Stinson exit. I ran down to Broadway and cut across to 94 South to take 394 West to 494 and up to Bass Lake road which is the area I work. When I got back to work which was around 6:30 or so the collapse was on the news. Glad the traffic was already backing up, don't know if I made the decision to get off of 35 before or after the collapse. Kinda scary.

Crazy night at work. As soon as the call went out, the radio traffic was complete mahem. We were on standby all evening to see if we would have to go down, they didn't end up needing us.

I'd guess there will be 50+ dead, by the time they clear out all the cars under water. Our dispatchers think there may be even more than 50 dead. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out in the next few days....

50+? I heard that there were about that many cars under water and didn't know how those people could possibly make it out alive. On the news they've only confirmed like 7 deaths (and couldn't predict how many more would turn up yet).

A very sad story and I think it will be at least a couple years to get a new bridge up again.
