The 2.3 was available in the ZX3 in 2003-2004, I had an '04 with an MTX before my SVT.
I saw that car on the Jet, They were asking around $18,000.

Well,
There was a very small window where they sold the 2.3 PZEV nation wide in the ZX3. If you want some actual eyes on verification...come over and take a look at my '04 ZX-3 with the D23...yes, 2.3L Duratec engine. I have been driving the snot out of it since I got home. It was a PZEV...but since I ripped out the second cat and the special intake housing/air filter...it no longer qualifies as a PZEV. It sure is a hoot to drive considering that the block weighs about 100lbs less than the ZTEC in the SVT.
Cheers

2.0 didn't start till 05/06 with the new body style, basically when they replaced the Zetec engine in the hatch and the 2.3 was only found in the ST sedans.STtuner05 wrote:hmm, i knew they offered the duratec on the 04s and such but i thought it was only the 2.0, because now they dont offer a 2.3 in any of the zx3's no matter what model.
There are ALOT of guys in Cali and other "green" states running 03 - 04 PZEV (Practically Zero Emissions Vehicle) engines aka a doubled cat'd, intake restrictive, bogged down 2.3 duratec. But its been know that if you do a header, cat back exhaust, bigger/new TB, and CAI, you can really wake up a 03 - 04 duratec.
There have been guys putting on basic bolt ons, cams, intakes, and such and putting down 180+ WHP N/A with them. Rumor has it thats why they stopped making the SVT Focus.

FYI PZEV stands for "Partial zero emmisions vehicle"umdivx wrote: 03 - 04 PZEV (Practically Zero Emissions Vehicle)

The Duratec is a fantastic engine, I think it's the Cosworth Stage3 kit will put out 230 N/A with a 2.3.
Yeah, Killing the SVT was smart. How about keep the car and switch engines? How about a f*%&$n F/I 2.3 or 2.0 to compete with EVERYONE else out there??
Oh wait, Americans don't buy small cars, especially hatches.

Because it would be faster than the GT mustang (but it should be anyways). This was covered in that other threadFORDSVTPARTS wrote:Yeah, Killing the SVT was smart. How about keep the car and switch engines? How about a f*%&$n F/I 2.3 or 2.0 to compete with EVERYONE else out there??

3 Fords, 1 Mercury, 1 Honda, 1 Yamaha
i say that SVT should make a focus and mustang, and then it would be ok for the svt focus to beat the GT mustang because its aftermarket and it still wouldnt beat the svt mustang. fuck if they are worried about it taking over the mustang why not get rid of the v6 mustang. my ST beats v6 mustangs all the time (fuckers think that its fast cuz it has the mustang name!)
why dont we just go crazy insane and try a v6 in the focus, or maybe even a inline 6 (need a little more hood room but it can be done
i dont care what they do, i just want more respect for the focus, i laughed at my friend the other day who has a 240sx, and i told him i might buy another car and he said dont buy a ford cuz it will never be fast. (coming form the person who just blew the engine in his new car, and still cant beat me in his old car after spending $1000 in performance in it!)
