Ebay short shifter any good?

Just wondering if these cheap short shifters are any good ... I mean ... its a shifter ... what could possibly be so different from one of these and a Focus Central or B & M? It's just a shorter piece of metal that they finally duplicated for cheap, correct? Enlighten me.

The problem is they break. That's why they are cheap. They have crappy welds and are made of cheap thin metal.

i thought i remembered a thread on the jet about how these are made better than the more expensive ones ... because they use heavier metal and hold up better to hard shifting, whereas more expensive ones use more expensive and lighter weight metals that break easier? whats an "iirc"?

I have a FC short throw laying around. I really don't know what it's worth, but I cannot use it any more - I bought the metal base and the bottom pivot is too low to use with the metal base. . . . any way if you have the plastic base where one cable comes from the bottom center and the other from the side it will work for you, it's the 2000-mid year 2002 shifter for the mtx-75.

Otherwise just take a hacksaw and chop your stock stick off. Use a 1/2 x 20 die and cut the threads longer (the stock threads are not 1/2 x 20 but its close enough to work, the knobs are just plastic).

I already have cut mine down a bit, but I just picked up an obx stainless stell short shifter from a guy on the jet. That shortens it up top and raises the point where they connect creating an even shorter throw, correct? If all I'm getting is what I already have, fuck it, I'll resell it and buy a tight knob. Thanks for the info man, much appreciated.

With a short shifter I'd recommend also using a weighted shift knob. I haven't got one yet because I haven't driven my car in 2 years, soon I will, and I will also get a weighted knob.
