on the stock computer and fuel system, would it be able to feed 7 pounds of boost?
or would i need an SCT tuned chip?

Chip, and injectors. Must have.

7psi of what? Turbo? My old car made 195+whp and 230+wtq with only 8 psi. I had 42lbs injectors.

yea, turbo, are the 42 pounders really neccesary? or is it more of a fail safe for making sure there are absolutely no fuel issues? sct chip?
its a fairly small turbo, came off a 1st gen probe GT, and from previously owning one of those the stock turbo died off around 6K, and with my dohc engine flowing that much better, do you think it would even be able to make it to 6K? i wanna get all the issues out of the way before i do anything, i got a tremendous deal on the turbo + stock intercooler, so a turbo upgrade isn't too big of a deal i guess.

I'd say do it. I need to do fuel upgrades already if I decide to do any more of a build on my setup. So I'd say with boost you will definately need it.

he isn't gonna hit 170hp with 24lb, svt uses 30lb and they max out around 180

shit there are guys running 42lbs injectors and are maxing those out around 200 - 230whp granted with a good tuner you may be able to push them a little more but there are guys running the 96lbs injectors becuase of that fact.

No matter what, any kind of boost you are going to need bigger injectors to supply the car with the added fuel needs, Boost = more air, more air = more fuel, more fuel = bigger inejctors.

Turboing aint as easy as you think, you'll need a bigger MAF houseing with either the stock MAFS, SVT MAFS, or something like the 70mm Mustang MAFS. Bigger inejctors for the fuel needs, a form of tuning weather it be SCT or Diablo (Hitech motorsports in Ramsey is a diablo tuner $500 for the chip + dyno tuning, or DB Performance in Rogers can do SCT) the tuning is needed to match the MAFS air readings to the injector sizes so that the incomming air is matched with fuel needs.

Then a Turbo manifold is needed, as well as a good down pipe, oil feed line, oil return line, BOV, waste gate (unless that turbo has a built in wg), then of coourse all the piping, couplers, tclamps, ect...

just ask c4ulder0n how much it's taken him to build a turbo setup around the WRX turbo I sold him, if it wasn't such a PITA and costly I would have done it a long time ago.

Well you could build a DIY turbo kit for 7-8psi relatively cheap.

Manifold you can buy a header kit from JGS precision for $205. You can tune with the stock maf, you can skip the intercooler piping. An internally wastegated turbo saves there. Injectors will cost. At 8 psi you don't need to have an intercooler. As far as downpipe goes, you could probably get boost factory to do one for a couple hundred. Since I know how flea works, I bet you could do it for around $1200 with enough searching for parts.

Oh that I know. But really there is only a few ways to turboing a car and making it somewhat reliable.

Excellent example of a homemade turbo setup done right with plenty of room to upgrade. I can't wait to see your car on the dyno Korri.
