Race track?

Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

Would there be any interest in a possible meet at a race track?

I know the local 1/8 mile track does a race under the lights for sports compacts in the summer.

I am going either way to settle a bet with a retarded friend of mine.

Especially since your going turbo.

I never been on a track so I really want to do it to say I have done it, and, its like 10 min down the road from me so I figure why not.

I have talked to a friend and he said a helmet is required, I may be able to get my hands on 2 or 3, but they are large and x-large sizes. I tihnk motor cycle helmets will work.

Only if it involves turning left and right and lots of acceleration and heavy braking.

Does anyone know of any other clubs that do track days at a road course? Perhaps a joint track day with another group could be arranged.

Besides, my straight line car got sold about ten years ago. Check it out.

I know Justin, Rod and I were talking about going to road america this summer, we could make a MNFOC racing team and go down there.

Don't tease me, Road America is my second favorite place on earth (I had to say it that way in case the wife sees this).

I go there at least twice a year for the vintage races and I did a few touring laps in my SVT last spring, I have also done quite a few touring laps in my fathers Austin Healey race car.

It is an amazing facility.

RIGHT, Thats it, you're banned. :x

Road America is the fastest road course in North America. It is just outside Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

It is heaven on earth for a motorhead, The front straight is a mile long (or so).

The track was built in 1955 and the course itself really has not changed since then, They have up to date safety features like catch fencing and gravel traps as well as safety crews.

They run Cart there and Superbikes and they host the largest vintage race event in the country every July.

Heres a link to their site, http://www.roadamerica.com/2006/index.htm

It depends on how you do it, I usually do it in about 6 hours from the cities with a wife and kids in the car.

By myself, I have done it in 4 1/2 but that is with like one pit stop along the way for food and a rest stop.

Of course you are just a tad West of the cities.

The first half is all freeway on 94 to Mauston, Wi. Then you hit the two lane straight across 'sconie to the track.

You have to watch for the Patrol and the local Barney Fife brigade going through the small towns, They love out of state plates.

Does anyone know if there is going to be a meet soon? I have a DVD of in car video from the cockpit of my fathers car, it's kind of fun to watch. All engine and wind, no music.
