Looking at CF hoods

Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

Stumbled upon a pic of the one on the bottom and began searching for it. Thoughts on how it'd look on a stock SVT (visually)? Also, anyone heard of this company or bought from them?

Looks pretty good, I prefer the stock style CF hoods on these cars and that one looks like the vent sinks into the hood without raising the front like an Invader.

If you buy one talk to Patalrob and see what he says about clearcoating a new CF hood. Might be a good option to prevent fade.

This is what mine looked like after years with no clearcoat (before I got it).

And after Pat restored it,

With CF Parts, I would stick with tried and true parts - VIS, Seibon, etc.

Get a hood that others have gotten in the past and had good luck with.

With the off-brand hoods there are often times a LOT of fitment issues and the thing about CF is, if it doesn't fit right you can't fix it....

Yeah, the other one I was going to go with is a OEM style VIS piece.

thats what I do like about this over the invader by VIS. it's just smooth and dips down rather than having a raised front end. The uniqueness of the Mevic hood makes me really like it, but if it doesn't fit right then there's not point. Decisions, decisions.

They said it would fit an 02 SVT but with the shoddy answers they gave me on other questions I don't know if they were just trying to get me to order it. Will be ordering a VIS carbon oem style hood once the check comes.

might be worth getting it just to have something thats a bit different.

I'm with Steve on the preference for stock or vents that don't protrude.

I'm almost ready to order, it's going to be a vis extreme gt or oem style. I'm leaning oem style.

Good choice!!

Do you know if it's actually clearcoated or if it's just a gelcoat?

Gelcoat will not stand up to the elements over time but clearcoat will.

VIS gelcoats.

They last a good 3+ years before you start to get fade. Nothing some clear won't fix now or down the road.
