Yeah, lots of the stayed members are leaving. It's apparent the "just bought a Focus" group is for the most part the younger, inexperienced crowd getting a hold of those second hand rides. So all those old questions are popping up everywhere. FF was the first forum I ever joined. I was member 143. Back then it was open territory. Parts were scarce, knowledge was scarce, and I got to watch things progress until the "maturity" stage. It sure was a fun ride watching the barriers fall, hell even being a part of it being a mod, bringing the Mach 1 lip to life, buying out Cal Focus and selling all of it off for cheap, doing 2 Roush group buys, having a few short lived online shops, etc. I've held in my possession as many different aftermarket and FR parts as the bug guys. I should have kept a list.goinloco1 wrote:thing is, both fj and ff are losing people by the droves. It's gotten to the point on both that questions have circled back to the same thing from years ago, and older members are tired of reading and answering the same thing over and over so they just stop participating. Alot have also moved on to different cars (I myself may be doing this soon).
I bounce between the two, but lately I don't spend much time on either, they have both retro'd back to 2003.
I've also dealt with many of the vendors on both sites, Tom's not the only prick out there, a couple of others are downright asses.
As far as vendors go, I haven't had the pleasure to deal with the lot of them. I brought up Tom in response to John's post about the "split". I have read some horror stories about a few of the vendors, which is to bad.
Sitting here looking back and watching the "changing of the guard" I wonder what it will be like in 3-5 years. I plan on looking into a nice reasonable mileage 08+ for my daughter and hope to still be rolling the wagon, so I'll probably still be hanging around. Should be interesting.
