Just recently purchased a 2010 Ford Focus SE 5 speed and was wondering if anyone knew how to install a aftermarket headunit in one yet or hook up subwoofers to it. I have asked around and havent found much of anything so was wondering if anyone of here could help me out. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!
You can just buy a aftermarket wiring harness that plugs directly into your factory harness. Start at www.crutchfield.com

Granted that its been years since my Honda CRX and car stereo glory days, but...
You will almost assuredly need an amp to effectively drive a subwoofer. I know that head units may put out more power nowadays than, say, 10 years ago, but decent bass requires decent air movement and good subwoofer control. (and these require decent power).
So, you might want to see if you can find a good deal on a car stereo amplifier. Want to know more? Try Focaljet or FocusFanatics, i think one or both of those sites have threads dedicated to Focus car stereo builds and common questions.
Good luck!

And, i agree, Crutchfield is a good resource if you have some DIY skills (or a friend who does) and if you don't mind spending a fair amount of your hard-earned dollars. But, if you have those skills, you might find a whole lot better deal on your car stereo equipment by shopping around some...

You can get the signal from the stock head unit. You need a line out converter. You just splice it in-line with the rear two channels of your radio. You also need an amp, a sub or 2, sub box, amp wiring kit, with patch cables.
I linked crutchfield because its a easy to navigate site, with good info. You can always shop around for a better price.
