New to the focus world, picking up an 02 SVT focus tomorrow with 51k miles on it. I'm wanting to put a short throw in it right away, preferences? Experiences? Also any other fairly cheap mods to do to it? thanks!

Also, do these come stock with HID's? Or where can I pick some up?

Welcome!!

Yes, some Focus' came with Hids. They are commonly called Mach's because they first came on the Mach sedans. And all EAP SVTs came with hids. They are not cheap new, dunno if you can even buy new ones anymore...typically have to watch the for sale section on the national boards for a used set.

For the short shifter CFM has a good one adjustable also. Not sure if they have them back in stock yet though..

A big welcome to a soon to be fellow 02 svtf owner. when you pics it up make sure you show it off with some pics. basic mods are decently prices, but they dont do much for you. short shifters are good, I have one in mine and I know a few others that have em, and they're great.
If you're going for power just save up for a turbo kit or S/C kit.
If you're going for fun, just do some suspension and basic mods and enjoy the nice ride. :)

Welcome to the site!

Short shifter AND throttle body-CFM http://focus.c-f-m.com/

Tune contact Mike at Unique tuning http://www.uniquetuning.net/

Honestly for a modest power gain and driveability a TB and good tune will do wonders for the car, So far I really believe Mike has got the best tune going for the SVT. Just tell him Steve at Tousley sent you 8)

And yes you can still get the HID's but they run about $600.00 each new these days and that's with my big discount.

Well just picked it up! 02 black with the blue inserts on the interior. 51k miles. Drove awesome on the way home! What do you guys run for winter tires? I'm thinking of pickin up some 15 or 16 inch focus rims and throwin some blizzaks on for the winter. Pics will be up tomorrow. As for major mods I won't do much, this thing has to last a few years. Probably just a K+N filter and short throw.

Appearance wise I plan on a light smoke on the tails and ambers in the front.

I love the suspension the way it is so far!

I will add, the hatch popper button on the dash doesn't work, common problem? hints?

Also will any focus rim fit as long as I adjust side wall for an overall similar diameter tire(so speedo is accurate)? Thanks!

15s don't fit over svt brakes. i'd suggest winterforce if you gonna get winter tires. thery're cheaper and i like the more aggressive tread.

as for the hatch. does the remote make it work? does it make the popping sound. if not check if the button is even hooked up. i don't like where they put it on these cars and i had disconnected mine before.

That is a VERY common problem. Call Steve at Tousley (FORDSVTPARTS) he'll get ya a new one for cheap.

$13.00 for the switch and I do stock it.

As mentioned 15's won't fit but any 16-17" Focus wheels will and 16's are pretty easy to come by used.
