My daughter called last night and says the ingnition won't turn. She called the locksmith and he couldn't get her on the road.....says he's going to have to drill out the cylinder....once the car get towed to the shop.

So I'm off the Roch with some sharpened drill bits to rescue her and the car!

instead of drilling out the whole thing, just drill out the little pin if you need to. then just use a screwdriver. you'll still need to have the key near it foe the PATS system.

more Qs. is it stuck in the off position? or can she not take it out? or will it not start?
try turning the wheel/ heat/ tapping/ working the key in and out if it's in off

It's stuck in "off", and the key goes in and out. They f'ed with it for an hour last night with no luck.

Pretty much sounds like drill time. I've got a hook up for a free LC (it pays to boat with a locksmith!) to work with her keys. He says if I drill out in the cold, he'll supply the rest. Here's hoping for SUN to warm up the car!

Gonna wait until Saturday. She doesn't need the car, and we've got another Christmas in Roch tommorow so it will save me a trip.

Thanks for the offer on the '07 LC! Pretty sure it would work with some programming. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Try putting the key in and tapping on the back of it with a hammer or such. Not a permanent solution, but it might get it unlocked so you can get the cylinder out.

Yeah, the kid that was working at BOWMAN LOCK AND SAFE (shameless plug) New Years Eve did all that. He said 90% of the time that will work. We got the 10%'er. That car is one tough SOB.

Good news though....Joe is sending his best driller tommorow. F the towing to the shop. Payment is an afternoon on the river in the Pantera.
