If you spun a bearing it as caused by something else like a lack of oil pressure or lack of oil in general.
Bearings don't just fail for no reason. I'd make sure they take a good look at the oil pump or just go ahead and replace it if you decide to fix what you have.
Assuming there as no major damage it should be a fairly easy fix and it should last indefinitely.
However it did sound like you kept driving the car which probably would have ruind the crank journal for that rod.
I think your best bet is a used longblock, looking for a short block is a waste of time as no one ever has them and theres much mor labor involved in the short block install anyways.

This is usually the reason why you can't just throw in a new rod bearing and expect it to last. To do it right you would have the crankshaft turned by a machine shop and get new different sized bearings to match. Assuming the crankshaft could be reused.FORDSVTPARTS wrote:However it did sound like you kept driving the car which probably would have ruind the crank journal for that rod.

Yup, I've seen oil pumps fail which throws a low pressure light and the car shut off right away and although the bearings were damaged the crank was allright with minor cleanup.

ok so how much would a new crankshaft and all that stuff i need cost to buy? my cousins say they dont rebuild motors so thats why ive been lookin into a new one because they said it will cost about the same to have it rebuilt as it would to buy a new one. i found a shortblock on ebay buy cant get ahold of the guy so i wont by it until i do. does anyone know if ford has a longblock for these? can i put a normal focus zetec in it or do i have to change a whole bunch of stuff? i just wanna get my car back on the road even if its underpowered i need to be able to get to and from work. is there anyone on here who rebuilds motors for cheap and that is a reliable person to do it right?

Call up Engelke Machine, (320) 395-2982.
So long as you pull the parts they'll machine them.
You may need a new rod also, depends on if the backer took a bite or not.
It's not that big of a deal to have a crank turned. That's why they make OS bearings.
