Allright...thanks for the link. I will use that if the install I did does not work.
So, I installed the cossie on my own this morning. But, when I did it, the filter hung super low and made me nervous. So, heres what i did instead. I took it apart and only used the straight tube and made it into a SRI. The filter sits on the far right, towadrs the front of the car, under the hood. This makes water lock pretty much impossible, but still gets the air to the engine just as fast, if not faster. I used the factory rubber tube connector at the top, then the straight tube, then the filter.
I took it for a ride, seemed fine. I has hear the "hhsssss" or like a quiet whistle" when revving around 3200 rpm's in second and third gears...otherwise, the increased acceleration or noise isn't that much different..so....did I do it right?
Is it good enough? Would I get more benefits of the infamous cossie intake if I installed the curved tubes too? Thoughts? Opinions? Questions?

if that's the rought you're going to go just sell that and get this http://htperformance.net/index.php?page ... &Itemid=51
that is basically a high flow Hot Air Intake. the point is to block the heat or move it away from the heat. no offense but i think you did it wrong. did all the mounting tabs mount right? could you have moved it up? the 2.0 and 2.3 aren't any different other than displacement. it's designed to tuck up there. it shouldn't need any modification, but if that's what it takes.

High Flow Hot Air Intake.......
That sounds like a bad idea. Hymph. I see the point of the other two tubes now. Maybe i'll have time to put them on tomorrow and do it the way it's supposed to be. I'm just worried about how low the air filter hangs and the possibility of hydro-lock. Maybe i'll just wait and have the mechanic look at it on Tuesday. But I am driving it untill then, is that okay? It seems fine to me. I've been driving it all day.

yeah, it's fine. you're just not using it to it's full potential. i got the steeda cause i've hydro locked my first focus. you can get a bypass valve which will prevent that. once you get it in there right your splash guard thing will stop all that shit. if you're still worried, there is always a steeda.....

So, I can leave it the way it is with no harm to the motor and no possibility of hydro-lock? I'll take pictures of my ghetto install tomorrow morning. The air filter is far away from the engine, in the front right corner of the car (looking at it from the front), closest to the headlight.
What benefits would I gain by adding the other two curved tube's? Can I add just the one curved tube at the top, then run the straight bar right to the filter? Would I gain more benefits rigging it up that way? That way, it is still avoiding hydro-laock, it is mounted further away from the engine, and it is gathering more cold air from the bottom grille on the bumper.
Thoughts? Opinions?

honestly. i don't think you'd see any gain in the bumper vs behind the headlight other than the heat. as for hydro lock if it's in the bumper, don't drive thru big puddles, no matter what's on the other side.... little splashes the lower guard will block. i use my car for something differant then you. but, if i knew you were as much as a worrier as i am i would have pointed you in a different direction for an intake

you know, i bet you could sell the elbows separate for someone to do a DIY intake. that way you could recoup some of what you paid..

Monkey-Gein"]honestly. i don't think you'd see any gain in the bumper vs behind the headlight other than the heat.
Did you phrase this right? Can you be more specific about the gain of going behind the bumper vs. going behind the headlight, where I put it? I think I will just leave it behind the headlight anyways. It deleted the factory intake and it performs much better. If I don't have to be worried about the fact that it is a "High flow hot air intake", then I don't really care. Although the "hot air" part confuses me since it is pointed away from the engine and cold air consistently comes through the grill right at it....but whatever.
P.S.
About my SVT Springs....I took some guys from church out for games and a barbecue last night..I had two guys (about 150 - 180lbs/each) in the back seat and one in the passenger seat about my size. The car scraped in the back right (passenger-side) corner over bumps small or big. These guys weren't big guys. Is the car gonna be able to handle camping gear and two people in the back???? If not, I might put my factory springs back on.

where you have it now it will get radiant heat. it's really not much, and not something to worry about. the colder the air the better. i'm just saying that you should use it to it's full potential, or get a heat shield. cause, from what i gather you basically have an over priced this > http://htperformance.net/index.php?page ... &Itemid=51 . don't feel bad, so do i. the steeda was more and is located right behind the headlight too. but that came with heat shields.
the suspention... it'll happen. i had a bunch of weight in my car with the stock susp. and it rubbed.

I definately noticed increased acceleration today,
It does the hssss noise around 3000rpms in all gears, and kinda pushes me back in the seat a bit. I wonder how much horse it added?
