i'm a contour owner, but yeah. i know pappy and steve so i figured i'd join. here's some pics of my whip.

well first i better put down the list.

1998 Contour SVT EO- Black

MNB interior.

mods:

2005 Taurus 3.0L longblock
2005 Taurus Intake manifolds and cams
custom Fuel Rail,
Nautilus Performance Fuel rail modification (fuel block)
Weapon R headers (stainless)
Weapon R y pipe (stainless)
Trubendz 2.5" test pipe
Trubendz 2.5" catback exhaust, no resonators.
65mm Mustang Throttle body
75MM Pro-Flo maf
"modified" mazda6 CAI
MSD DIS-4 ignition
Ford racing 9mm plug wires
B&M short throw shifter
Focus ST shift knob
Pre98 contour center console
AEM wideband 02
Eibach springs
Clutchnet Stage3 disc (custom made to fit my needs. i highly recommend this company!)
Spec stage3 pressure plate
Polyeurethane front "roll resistor" mount
Deleted AC pump/lines/condensor etc.
Plastic P/S and ALT pulleys (maybe 5% underdriven)

and many, many, many new parts. more to come!

In the spring the engine bay is going to look totally different. once i get a tuning program i will:

remove the IMRC box and install plastic valve covers (saves weight/heat on the intake manifold)
Remove that ugly clear PCV hose (it was a temporary to see if i was blowing by oil)
Build a custom Throttle body bracket from an 05 engine.
Build a custom cold air box and run a regular conical K&N filter (already hydrolocked one engine with the CAI)
Delete EGR solenoid (its already disabled)
Delete IAC solenoid (its already bypassed)
Build a fiberglass battery box to cover the optima batt. (i want the engine bay to be all black)

i'll also be adding a mirko front splitter this spring, and black SVT euro wheels.

wow, i thought you guys had to use the 2.5 block and modify it to except all the 3.0 stuff. but if the mtx-75 bolts to a 3.0 dohc then hells yeah that will make things easy. i like the use of the pre 2000 3.0, they made the taurus move pretty good, i can only emagine what it does in a lighter platform.

Are you kidding? A lot of people will do the entire swap without even taking the cams out  The "straight" 3L swaps like tyler's new one even uses the 3L intake manifolds.

yeah the only problem with the whole setup is two of the transmission bolts won't work unless you use the 2.5L oil pan. and that oil pan=junk. so i run 7 trans bolts (or something like that)

haven't had a problem with it yet.

and yeah. i wouldn't have even had to pull the valve covers if i was gonna run the new style PCV system. but i didnt want to. my last engine had the SVT cams. i wish i had done the cam swap but i was in a rush to get my car back together and i got the engine for 250 with 8000 miles on it and i sold the SVT cams for 225 :D

I thought you could use an Escape oil pan which allows the use of all the trans bolts?

i've heard that you can MAKE it work by oblonging the holes or something. since i haven't had a problem with the trans with a stage3 clutch and a torsen, i'm not worried about it :D

i do have a recurring starter problem. the gear won't kick out to meet the flywheel to turn the engine over. it just spins in place. i took it off and cleaned it out (ceramic-metallic clutch disc makes lots of dust) and it still did it about a day later.

do you have good warranty on your starters steve or am i better off going to napa and getting a "lifetime warranty" version from them?

Correct, escape pan bolts up 100% with ZERO modifications as long as you use the matching pickup tube :)

eh i'm too lazy to buy an escape oil pan and put it in just so i can have two more bolts ;)

little update on the car.

i had a vaccum leak and it was really getting old. so i started tearing her apart and i keep finding things i don't like. i put this engine in pretty hastily so here's the new list of things to do:

Modify a 60mm TB to fit a 65mm plate
Torch a PCV tube
Replace aluminum valve covers w/ plastic
Replace LIM (found the vaccum leak, i had a broken bolt in it!)
Build a fiberglass cover for my battery
Build a fiberglass enclosure for my intake :)
Deleted EGR completely (solenoid is gone)
Regapped spark plugs (was gonna replace, but they still look new at 10k miles)
Paint everything black that isn't black yet. i wanna take every bit of color out of the engine bay :)

sucks though. gotta walk to the library to use the internet now!

That would suck.

I have a few things in the works for my car this year too. Nothing to write home about though.
