kirchoff's law, the energy going into a circuit is equal to the energy going out. Since caps create heat, they're outputting less electrical energy than they started with. Also, I've seen a plot of the voltage that an amp sees with or without a capacitor, and it gets more voltage without than with

you dont need a cap.
do the big-3 and see where you sit, if you still think you need more, a high-output alternator and/or a second battery is the way to go.
