Operation:Air Depletion
I would personally go with a vortech any day of the week over a turbo kit, vortech puts a lot fo time into thier products, and, you get what you pay for, besides, if you want more boost, put a larger head gasket in to drop your compression ratio, and, add a larger pulley.
I have found that the supercharger route is the easiest and most reliable, I mean, if you wanted to makes gobs of worthless power to melt your tires, you would just go to wisconsin and pay 25k for the v8 conversion and make it rwd( there is a place that does it now). Then, you could have loads of fun, I know I would...then, if that wasn't enough, I would put a vortech on a stroked and built 331 and run about 15psi and make 600 worthless horses to the ground

yes a SC is more reliable, however lowering the compression wont do a thing but lower the HP when doing a SC. They only make a certain size big boost kit for the vortech or any other SC kit for that matter. at the end of the day only so much boost will hit the engine, which is nothing compaired to a turbo.
so if you want lots o power a turbo is the only way to go.

Hector hit 300whp on 16psi with a stock bottom end on a Vortech. I can up the boost with my Vortech up to 20psi and still flow efficiently. Sure I can't hit 30, but I can break 300whp with my Vortech and there are only a handful of Foci that have broken the 300whp barrier.
This isn't even with me starting to touch on the Powerworks. That's another beast in itself.

To say a supercharger is not efficient is like saying a car with no motor is fast. One could be mighty surprised what a positive displacement blower could accomplish, look at the cobra and the lightning, both can turn 10's with 5k worth of mods and a skilled driver, that is no juice either, and, on a stock bottom. Though, a vortech unit is not a roots-type like that found on the 2 above mentioned..the jackson racing beast is, however, a positive dispalcement unit. I personally love the sound of a blower, becasue the only way a turbo sounds good to me is with 1 on each side of the block plushing 1200+ hp to the wheels

Since most ppl never heard my car and the rides that ppl received was at 8psi i will stick with the turbo any day of the week. My engine held at about 30psi on the dyno, i say about because i didn't expect that much boost and it pegged my boost gauge. I've driven a Vortech car and it was slow compared to the rush of air that my T3/T4 gave, and the Greddy Type RS BOV is loud enough to scare a jogger (funniest shit i ever saw). I would like to crack 300whp, but that will have to wait. I want my boost back!!! A stock focus is way too slow. But it idles. 221 whp and 250ft-lbs at 4K is what it hit, i chickened out and made the tuner cut the engine once i saw a pegged boost gauge.
Slower than your stock focus.

man you dont need a blow off valve to scare poeple, just do a 50mph rally drift twords them theyll jump about ten feet.... but as far as turbo vs super ... the super charger was always a durability part, turbos require to much oiling , they have to small of bearing jurnals and most people dont know how to set them up, the tend to over spin the poor little things. now a super charger can bee over spun , but unless you are running like a 10mm pully you will most likely red line before over boost happens. a vortec set up is a good way to go , it has ease of install,, but i would rather have the power works(hope they have for an auto).... oh and yes the auto will be built this winter.. talk to the peeps at lyntech.. second gear should take the foci to 90, 95 mph..staing withe stock gear size

you run an oil sending line and oil return line for a turbo. this is the same exact set that I use for my Vortech. You'll never overboost with a vortech because you won't rev that high. My trim can handle up to 20psi. There are less components to break in a vortech setup but it's by no means the best setup for a Focus. As far as ease of install, mine was a 7 day install. A turbo setup would have been easier to install.

trahma is the best person to ask about reliability on a vortech.

Slower than your stock focus.
