Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

So I'm at the front of the line to get on 35E South leaving work in the left lane and I notice a grey fender and multispoke wheel pull up next to me.

I glance over and it's a younger guy in a nice looking pretty new VW and I knew right off he was going to try to get me down the ramp so I'm ready for him to make his move.

Sure enough as we are turning left he's trying to come around so I nail it through first and second and thats when I knew it was a turbo because I could hear a blow off valve.

I had him through first and second and he started gaining in third and was almost side by side with me when we started running out of ramp room and are catching the car in front of us and since I'm not about to back off he does, after all I was still technically in front of him.

He never came out into traffic as he was apparently taking 694 East and I was going South.

If we had a longer run he would have gotten me but it was pretty darn satisfying being able to hold him off as long as I did and I'm quite sure he was surprised that he had that much trouble with a 40 year old guy in a Focus. 8)

It would have been fun to run all the way through third and into fourth but being theres always the chance of running into him again, I bet he won't forget what my car looks like either.

BTW-I NEED A BLOWER!!!!

W00T!
I too, need a blower!

some guys in a turbo-diesel truck with all kinds of offensive and ignorant "red-neck"style stickers looked a bit surprised when the "ricer with less torque than their lugnuts" walked them hard when they were hard on the throttle. II wouldn't call it a victory... because it's a friggin work truck. But walking a truck full of assholes (You'd understand if you saw all the bumperstickers) is priceless.

a couple of the bumper stickers are as follows:

"My lugnuts need more torque than your rice burner makes"
"Don't speak english? GET THE F#CK OUT!"
"Mean people suck, Nice people swallow"
"I got a gun for my wife, best trade I ever made."

also, a couple of these.

It was a pretty classy ride to say the least.

No APR wing but I hooked myself up big time with a set of tinted vent shades, I think I might paint em yellow before I install them. 8)

Thats at least the 2nd time a VW has done something like that, Must be the natural German aggressiveness coming through huh?

Last time I was on the way home from the emergency room with my son at 3:00 am and a silver VW 4 door pulled uip alongside on 35E and after driving alongside for a minute he hammers on it and rices away from me, Or would that be Saur Krauted?

Nice job, The VW I ran was newer but I never got a real good look because he was never close enough.

I think I'd have too much fun with a blower.

I think you meant "GERMANS NEVER LOSE, DEFEAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!" Then you were supposed to break into a rousing chorus of "Deutchland, Deutchland Uber Alles".

Funny because Rsheak was saying he's run and beat 1.8T's before, When he told me that it REALLY made me wish we had gotten a longer run.

BTW-Is it normal to be able to hear a blowoff valve on one of those things or was the one I ran into modded?

Coulda been aftermarket BOV.

But I thought on most 1.8t's, they run a DV like on the Focus...could be wrong tho...

A company in europe makes a blow-off style diverter valve. So it works like a diverter valve, but sounds like a BOV.

I kinda wanted one, but I had already gotten a Bailey's DV.
