Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

It actually happened last year, but I was just reminiscing and wondered if anyone else had ever had or heard of a similar situation..

I was driving and all of a sudden my clutch felt like it went completely out, like a total hydraulic melt down. I pulled over (I was on an on-ramp to Hwy 77) and had to call a tow truck. Turns out there is a factory weld point where the clutch attaches to the firewall (or something near there) that had broken loose. The boys at Valley Auto Care welded it back on for me, but it seemed like a really strange thing to happen!

Speaking of strange events- another time I thought my alternator had gone bad. After buying a new one and preparing to replace it, I noticed something was wrong with one of the wiring harnesses plugging into the current one. There were three wires, but one of the three had just been pulled out of the connector. $45 and a new harness later, everything worked A-OK.

This one time, I was accelerating decently...

Then I heard a loud POP, lost all power, and saw large quantities of smoke.

A new engine later and ......

I've never heard of a clutch pedal breaking but anythings possible.

The alternator wiring issue is fairly common though, It's a very common misdiagnosis to put in a new alternator and then find out the issue was wiring all along.

I've never had the alternator wiring on any of the three Foci I have owned but it does happen.
