Is that what most of you do, top the tank and add fuel stabil?
Top tank yes, fuel stabil no.. In my experience you don't need it if you're only storing the car for 6 months or less. As long as the tank is full up to the rim there's no air in the tank
I also cover it up. I don't take the battery out usually, but I have used it in a different car once for a couple days of winter....
Mine get's stored every night, after I get home from work then I drive it to work the next day.
Hellz yea.. but I don't have a winter beater anyways. Me and o6designs were talking about whether I should remove my little front lip or not.. eh.. I hate the winter. I should have my car in winter mode by next week.
This is bullshit. I had to take the front lip off my winter beater....damnit! What kind of crap is this?
Still rocking Paris Hilton wheels tho!
BTW Steve, only Ricky Racers drive their nice cars in the winter. Cuz they can't afford beaters cuz they buy RickyRacin' Ricen' parts all summer....LOL
I've heard various thoughts on jack stands lately. What is better? Not just for the tires, but the suspension. It used to always be, put it on jack stands.

If you put it on stands make sure they are under the suspension to keep a load on the springs.

Keep thinking that way, Wait till theres a wife and kid's consuming the majority of your income.
Better yet, stay in school and get a decent job so you can afford luxuries like winter beaters and stuff.

So whats the advantages of putting it on jack stands then if you are keeping a load on the springs? Is it just for the tires benefit?
Yeah, I think the tires wouldn't like being on the same spot all of the time since the load point normally is different due to rotation. I am guess you want to keep a load on the suspension for the sake of the struts/shocks, I wouldn't think the springs would care at all.

I sell parts, I'm poor, welcome to my world.
Shit kids and wife are cheap. Try paying $800/month for student loans...
and you all know I'll be beating on my car all winter long.

You can get flat spots on the tires from sitting that long, they'll work their way out fairly quickly but you can avoid it entirely if the car's off the ground.
It also keeps the tires away from the ground which can keep excess moisture off one area of the tire so you don't end up with one spot getting damp and then drying over and over.
As for the springs? I would imagine that if the car sat with the springs at full extension for six months the springs may want to stay that way for a while so your ride height could be high for a while in the spring. Just like new springs settling in.

Remember, Kids, plural.
Yours is still little, wait till you have more and have to buy school supplies and stuff all the time.
Besides my wife was a stay at home mom for about six years so it was my income only.
Hey, too bad it couldn't be "wives" plural. Hmmm, probably not a good idea.
Oohhh, I know. Wife-singular, Girlfriends-plural. now we're talking.
