I just brought home a Euro Focus

Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

Thanks :-)

Mazda 3 and the 5 share the same platform with the European focus. I'm pretty sure the 5 and the 3s share the same engine - 4cyl 2.3L DOHC, 153 HP. Too bad they didn't use the speed3 engine for the 5 heh.

But it's been great so far. It handles really well, we traded in our Minivan and haven't looked back since!

While actually classified by Mazda and the EPA as a Mid-Sized Wagon, it is generally perceived as a mini-minivan in the United States because of its car-like size and sliding doors. It is based on Ford's global C1 platform, meaning it shares many parts with the Mazda3. Its closest relative is the European compact MPV Ford Focus C-MAX, though the MAZDA5 uses minivan-style sliding doors in the rear while the Ford has four conventional front-hinged doors.

Currently the US Focus uses the older C170 platform, but in 2010 they will be moving to the C1 chassi here as well.
