for low end grunt torque the SPI all the way, for high end power and reliability, the Zetec/Duratec. The SPI isn't as bad as what you make it out to be Nils. Don't knock what you haven't tried, there are UK/EU folks making some damn impressive numbers with turbo'd SPI engines, i've seen 398whp escorts doing research on the SPI. Hell look at Jeffescort's junk yard king setup, 280ft lbs, ins't something to scoff at.
