Who sells them and how much do they go for? Is there a big difference between the aftercooled and no? How much power does it make all I can get is flywheel hp?
Thanks for the help.
vortech supercharger
I've been trying to locate a dealer for the Vortech supercharger also, to price / performance compare with the F-max turbo and the Jackson racing supercharger. From what I've seen I don't think I'd trust this company. I can't find anybody who has one, Their own site has no price information or real numbers to back it up. If you look on the bottom of the page of the web site it says that the numbers are "calculated estimate based on percentage from actual wheel hp/tq mesuments" I think if i was a company who made race parts that worked I would show people the real numbers not just estimates.
web site: http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/pro ... focus.html Also if you actualy attempt to click on one of the part numbers you get an error message. Dosn't exactly leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling.
Personaly i think i'm going to go with the Jackson racing one, aftercooler or no, they just seem like a better company. And the F-max turbo is almost 4K
If anybody here knows differently please prove me wrong.

they are supposed to have the best price around on the Vortech. trahma is running the Vortech succesfully. Do some searches on Clubfocus.net and focaljet.com they have some decent write ups on both with people pondering the same question. My choice is Vortech, but that is because of the type of supercharge (centrifugal vs roots type)

Slower than your stock focus.
vortech is hands down better...not to mention it has upgradablility...go ahead get the JRSC but your stuff with a paper weight...
you want rrots type get the SVT setup and do your own tuning method...put down 9psi without the heat...
vortechs a nice kit...and if you wanna get bigger and better you can upgrade your blower and tuning!

Thanks Louis, of all the replies yours was the most informative. i went to the web site, still no prices, but I found a bunch of info on the forums. Basicly what i got was this. The vortech has better technology Centrifugal over roots of the JR but they are more expensive average around 3,500 bucks instead of 2,500 for the JR and installation is a mess. Dosn't work with shorty headers(without modification), you need to drill and tap your engine block ect.. the JR is a 3 hour installation TOPS and can be done in a parking lot (which i'm forced to because i don't have a garage) And i've talked with my friends on the Corvette forums and none of them will ever buy Vortech again. The company has the worst customer service ever. I know that JR has good customer service which is something that I care about. You might not but to each his own.
Trahma, yes i did resarch, but so far it has been a fairly fruitless effort. Louis said you had a vortech so i checked your previous posts. 13 hour install? dosn't sound fun. It also seems that you were originaly against it. why did you change your mind if you did. The thread is kind of left open?
It's all about the Auto X.
Is vortech tuning any good? They offer the tuned kit but if it sucks then I don't want it. I'm saving money now maybe in a couple months I'll get something. Anybody know anything about percision turbo kit? I know it's not tuned.

I was originally planning on a turbo setup but came across a deal too good to pass up for my Vortech setup. As far as Vortech's customer support, it sucks a hairy nutsack, I won't lie there. The install wasn't that tough, just tedious and 13 hours is being generous. My car was out for a week. I've never personally worked with JR so I can't say much about them other than I heard when they sold, their service got way worse.
Cost aside, if I had my choice between the two, I'd get a Vortech. In order of choice I would say I'd go turbo setup > vortech > all motor > jrsc. The JRSC is great if you want to make a few extra horsepower, in the log run though I'll make more with my Vortech setup. The reason you see no prices on Vortech's website is because they don't sell their kit directly. Your best bet for a price is probably Tom over at Focus Power. While you're over there, you may want to look at his stage 1 turbo setup, it's actually fairly decent.

From the people I've spoken with, the Vortech tune is a very conservative tune. When I get my SCT package, I'll make more power out it once I'm fine tuned to work within my mods.
If you do end up going the Vortech route, I have an extra autologic chip (which I'm using now) which you could get programmed and you would just need the injectors to finish the tuning. We can talk about this more at the meet and if you want, we'll take my car out for a run so you can see the kind of power you can expect to make with the Vortech. We can also talk about the install and all that jazz which made the whole setup a blast.
