These guys are jokers. I take it in and tell them I'm 99% sure its my IAC valve, but I want them to look things over. So they do the $60 diagnostic (bull****) and then call me and give me a price, $159 + $60 for the diagnostic. (By the way I'm doing this because I haven't had time to do it myself) Just out of curiosity, I call Steve from Tousley ( A genius and savior, I totally trust Tousley ) and get a quote on the IAC valve. He said he could order one up new for $50 - 60, and they retail $80 - 90.

Well I show up to pick up my car and look at the invoice breakdown. $124.20 in parts ... huh. Weird. Luckily they "got my car in early" and it was done in 15 minutes, so that was strangely nice, but $124.20 for an at most $90 part ... I was intrigued. I asked what they did, if it involved gaskets or anything extra, and he said nope, just the valve, and I said I wasn't paying $124.20 for it then. He said I had already accepted that price and I said I was not given a sufficient breakdown of the pricing, and assumed it was labor. Well he calls over Dr. Parts from the computer, who tried to make me feel like an ass, ( thanks for that ) and he pulled it up and says "Does $83.40 sound better" with a nice bit of attitude. I saved about 40 bucks on parts, and am sure it was jack for labor.

Needless to say, I don't recommend Northtown Ford in Menomonie, WI for any sort of honest work, because the IAC wasn't my problem, idle is still **** anyways. Very pissed, and am going to drive the extra miles to Tousley from now on, or just do it myself.

Anybody else have similar experiences etc.? I just feel really violated and don't know who to trust anymore. It's very discomforting that they're pushing parts on me and trying to make extra money like that. I'm sure other industrys are the same way as well ... I just feel ****ty. Thanks Northland Ford for your "outstanding service."

I just wrote a lengthy email to ford, hope they respond.

Kyle - I don't like the dick's their either, same with some of the Service Managers at Stillwater Ford - I bought my car from Minar New Brighton) Ford and I wish I lived closer to that place!
