So, I've been doing insurance audits as an independent contractor for almost a year. I enjoy the work. I recenty interviewed for a salaried position and have been offered the job. Some time in January 07, I have to get a new Ford as part of the deal (they pay for it on top of my salary). I have to get a new car every 4 years with this job. I get a flat amount per month for the car (excluding expenses), so if I come in under the amount, I keep the difference. Gas is also reimbursed at a vairable rate per mile logged each week.
By the time I have to have the new car, I'll have 10 payments left on the ZTW. My wife's 02 Civic EX is paid off. We are thinking of keeping the ZTW for her (put the stock exhaust back on...maybe even the stock suspension...and the roof rack)...and selling/trading the civic towards my new car. I'll probably pick up an 07 ZX3, since there are inexpensive and fuel efficient...it will be a 5 speed. The flat amount the company provides for the car is around $500 per month. So my thinking is to get the payment down to let the flat amount cover both car payments. Then pay off the ZTW faster.
So it appears, if I go this route, I won't be modding the ZTW at all, and will be selling my parts collection. I haven't quite made up my mind for sure.
New job ect

If it was me I'd tell the wife tee-hee, and make her drive the civic.
Then, I would look at how much driving you are doing per month, and take it from there.
Is it any ford moter company viechle or, just blue oval branded? If just blue oval, I'd try for a power stroke f250, otherwise, I think a stang, being you do not have the payment to worry about, what you would use as a payment could pay for fuel.
Otherwise, ford's line up sucks, if someone was paying for a car for me, I'd want something more then a focus....at least look into the ST focus., then focus-sport turbo?

he gets to pocket the difference (or pay I guess)
so that would be a good reason to get somethign with a low monthly payment
