ok so this time I was the one who broke the focus. I put a new TB from steeda into my car, and now this week The RPMs spike to 4-5k before my car will go. Under 4-5k it feels like my car is going to stall out. I tried putting the old TB back into the car, and not it sounds like i'm racing when im only going 5mph? any advice? PLEASE.

I checked that on the steeda TB... took that off and re-did the cylicone seal and it didn't help. I'm gonna check the gasket on the stock TB today... I'm thinking that the TPS (thottle position sensor) might be installed the wrong way

ok, this could be part of the problem... I was looking around on FJ and i found a pic of were the TPS screws into the TB and I don't have the right bolts for my production year. Could be the culpret. I am very nurvious about messing up the intake manifold because of a TB.

im thinkin out loud here. if you had a bad tps it would fall on its face then try to pick back up. but you say its doggy under 4 grand, then you put the stocker back on and it revs real high and goes nowhere...hmmmm... well if you have a dvom i would check for voltage at the tps it should go from like 0.00 to 4.90 volts if it drops at all through out the sweep it is bad, and you should have referance at the middle pin of 5 volts... then find a vac gauge and hook it to the booster port , see if you have a bad vac signal, a unmetered air leak will give you trouble. you could hose down the tb and intake mani wit carb clean and see if it starts to stall.

i woul go off a manifold bung, you have a coulpe right under the tb. any vac source should work, the easy one is at the brake booster.Sublimetime86 wrote:yea I should try that. where is the booster port to put a vac gauge into? I'm going to (hopefully) get the rights screws from steeda so the TPS will sit at the correct angle. How much does a new TPS cost if I might ask?

And if you don't plug it back in, you will know, the car, if its warm, will run very hard and then die, if its cold, it won't start and you will hear a hissing sound.
