Painting over chrome rims?

Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

Anyone ever done it. The hard part is I want to leave the lip on these rims chrome, just paint the spokes. Would it be a safe/easy fix?

Tape off the lip. Sand, or rough up the spokes, you should be fine. Just make sure to properly clean the spokes before paint, or it won't stick, and it will just flake and chip off.
Pants too tight, wheels so bright!

I heard that powder coating works the best over chrome. You can get a "do it yourself" powdercoating kit off ebay for cheap

or get it done here

Just don't.

Buy the wheels with the chrome lip, you're going to have to trash them pretty good to get paint to stick and look good.

Personally, I have been thinking about chrome wheels, I wonder what they would look like on my car.

from experiance. the best is to remove as much of the chrome as possible fill in the craters with body filler, or tig weld alum back in smooth prime and paint. loota work, yor better off buying the rims you want. or get un chromed rims and have them chromed
