Hey Guys,
Yesterday I was in Faribault to visit my wife. I saw a teenager driving 03 Civic EX, so I got next to him then we started to race on the green light, then after like 3rd gear he was in front of me... $hi|... so i followed him then asked him wut he got in the hood.., he popped up the hood and he said "juss an air filter" (i saw the "K&N" sticker on the side window.. ).
I got JRSC BBK on my 01 Focus ZX3, Auto. Then he said "may be because mine is stick and ur car is an auto" .... That is freaking BS, cos I spent almost $2500 to put on the JSRC, which is "a piece of CRAP" . Just wasting my money! I should have picked stick when I bought my Focus maybe add Turbo on it.

My car is amazingly slow compare to no mod Civic. I am really disappointed with my engine. Any of you guys having JRSC on yur focus? Ever race it? Let me know your experience with JRSC.

Unfortunately I'd say thats where your problem is. Stock vs. stock a manual ZX3 should take a Civic EX any day. They have more torque, more power, and weigh the same. I guess we should plan a manual swap for your car next.

Sounds like he's having the same problem.

Yeah, that's my problem. My wife is driving the car too, and she can't drive stick. I raced cavalier before, and it got smoked by my foc. But seriously, after put on the JRSC my car should power up around ~160 hp, compare to civic only 130+ hp.

It depends, really, there are 2 versions of the JRSC, there is a big boost kit and the reg.

The OP did no mention the mods he has on his car...

Being its a roots blower, it responds well to cams, CAI, ported head, free flowing exhaust...

You made no mention of your mods, the JRSC has a nice power band, belive me, it wa sone of the kits I was considering, but, I have talked to Oscar Jackson, he told me that the Eaton M45 on the unit is pretty much at its max, the other things that can help you. truly, are going to be a good set of cams, exhaust, no cat, larger TB, better flowing head. I have an email somewhere, they got 189hp on cams/head. You will want a good tune also.

If I was you, I would try to get an Eaton M-62 on that intake mani...the M-45 is pretty much maxed out already out of the box, the eatons, anytihng more then 10 psi and they loose their effeciency....

The m-45 vs the m-62, you will need to have youe inlet filled in and re-cut, they are not the same inlet...

Auto means nothing against a stick in terms of straight line speed, the auto will be more consistant...the early ATX focus did have a weaker torque converter...there is also a ford racing valve body, I read this is a unit made by lentech for ford racing, lentech=good in the auto trans world. With ford racing, there is no warranty, which sucks ass.

A valve body you should be able to install in your drive way though, you will need to drop your pan on your trans, if you do do this, do not over TQ the bolts, in fact, I would recommend orange trtv over the stock gasket, put a beed on the pan, put it up to the teans, on a clean surface, of course, and, start to tighten the bolts, just enough until the rtv squeezes out, then, let it set over night, and, snug the bolts
too much snug will warp and bend your pan causing more leaks...

i wanna swap...haha if i can get a cheap mtx-75 and swap em. i will need help if i'm going to do it by myself.

i maxed out at 158 hp 6 psi, at the dyno with diablo mail in order tune. i know lyntech makes a good auto transmission but long run looks like a stick will be better (i believe it's cheaper to convert it to a stick)

Hey Sc0tty8, thank you so much for your advice. I really never thought of switching 45 to 62. If it makes any difference, I would really like to try it out. Do you know any shop in Roch that did a good job to install it? I know a shop in Texas that sell the supercharge decent price.

I belive the mani is alum, so, anyone that can weld alum and machine it....you will also want to cool your inlet charge and get a custom tune for the m62 if you do do it....

Hey co-macho,
I heard you got JRSC also, how is that engine treating you? So do you experience the slowness of the engine also. I am also seriouly thinking to swap it to stick. But before I do that, I would like to race my car. If I can find another civic to race. Where do you live? I really like to check on your engine.
