Powerworks supercharger, your opinions....

What is your opinion on the Powerworks supercharger? For those who don't know of it--> http://www.powerworks.net/focusforce_manual.html

I like the power that it puts out, the tune, and installation doesn't seem all that hard. (Just long) The one thing that I don't like is the quarter-mile time that it puts down. --> http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp ... e_number=3

It could have been the driver that made the bad time, or it could have just been a fluke.

There are other pulses and minuses but I want to hear what you think. Thanks :)

My opinion, its expensive as hell. 4k to make a 15 sec car is a lot of money. You could find a beat to crap v8 mustang for 2k and put a 1600$ paxton sc on it and it will be faster, but, handle like poo...

I have actually thought about that kit, if I had the money, I would prob hit it.

Its using a roots-type blower, means, you an mod your motor, anything that allows an NA motor to make power will allow a power works car to make more power, so, more cam, more exhaust, more power. I am not sure about the tune it comes with, if I did it, being my car is not stock, I would get a custom tune. Its also intercooled and uses an m62 blower, the jackson racing uses an m45 unit, the m45 unit is not strong enough for an intercooled application, whereas, the power works kit is.

If you got the money, and you wanted a solid power adder, this would be the way to go.

I am not sure of any other mods you have, if you do it, get some cams and new exhaust.

IMO, Powerworks makes the best, although most expensive blower. I may be a little biased though, because I drove the car in that article down at Jetfest, and it was HELLA fast

If you have enough money for the kit, its good, strong, well put together kit.
I went a different route, I went with the FS/VF.

the companies car placed last in the Car and Driver tests.

I think it is overhyped. Vortech with after cooler would be a better choice imho

I ran those times with a 4 mph higher trap with bald tires, and bolts ons and spray. It seems weak to me....

My opinion for the cost, go davis route, and boost it with a kick ass turbo setup.

If you want a supercharger, the power works is bar none the best supercharger for the Focus. Yes, Car and Driver put out some shitty numbers.

If you want a real answer, my opinion is ask owners what they think of their particular car. In my sponsor's opinion (Mitch @ ZX3Tuning), the Powerworks is the best bang for the buck. Every time I talk with him, he's trying to sell me one because of its delivery. Comparatively, it absolutely smokes their procharged and vortech cars. As far as JRSC, don't even get me started. The big issue is cost here.

Honestly, if you want good opinions, get a ride from my car, o2's car, and Davis' car. I don't think there's a powerworks focus in Minnesota yet unfortunately. The price is a little daunting. If I were considering boost with an NA car, it'd be either turbo or a powerworks.

i really dont agree with anything that has been said, you can purshase a vortech sc for far less and make better numbers with an agressive tune, powerworks is expensive and may be the best plug and play all inclusive kit but a vortech can blow it out of the water with the right tune.

The Vortech is a dyno queen, plain and simple. It's very streetable power it delivers power late. You get the parasitic loss of a supercharger and the lag of a turbo. I love my Vortech don't get me wrong but I'd swap it for a power works any day.
