Last week I had my power steering pump replaced, the trasmission system was flushed, and yesterday I recharged my cool air intake filter with a K&N recharge system. Today - when I drove my car about 5 blocks it smelled like somehting was burning - pretty strong smell...any ideas?

I was thinking power steering fluid somewhere?

most likely some fluids on the manifold. take your car to the pay and spray and go ape on the engine it is pretty common to get real messy with power steering.. but a good tech would have cleaned up after him self.

Why did you have to get your power steering pump replaced?

The pump was shot, internal seals were bad - so that was replaced. I only drove the car about 5 miles since i replaced the pump, and only drove it for about 3 minutes since i recharged the air filter - might i be smelling the oil used on the filter?

I've had K&N filters on everyone of my cars. And I have never had a burning smell due to the Air Filter. I'm with Focinite. Its probably something they spilled thats burning after the engine gets hot. I would just drive it alittle bit more and see if the smell goes away. It should. But I'm pretty sure, its not your filter if you reoiled it correctly.
