A customer dropped of an 05 focus to have me replace the front bumper cover and repair the roof. He mentioned that the car will lock the doors all by itself sometimes. It did it while he was here. Car was not locked, he walked like 10 feet away and click, the doors locked. Anyone ever heard of this before and what may be the cause?

Yup, they do that. No rhyme or reason to it.

My advice is don't leave your keys in the car and if you do you should be sure to leave the window open so you can open the door.

It is possible to have it disabled, I've never been that inconvenienced by it that I felt I needed to have it done.

They reprogramed the patts system. There is a patch for the soft ware. Some of the early ones had a issue with the brake pedal timer. In most cases it will lock the doors ten to twenty seconds after you step on the brake and switch gears to drive away.inzerrrt the doors lock. Some had a wacked timer and some will never do the lock and go. And some will just lock themselves when ever. I am sure some of the ford tecks know the tsb and the updated flash. 8)
