Tell me how this happens. :? (I'm scratching my head)
If you don't see it right away, checkout the splines. This is the same Luk clutch I am installing now. FYI I'm on OEM power.

What does your input shaft look like???

You may want to stop right there and take a good look at it.

Also- when you install the new disc be sure it's facing the correct direction, don't laugh, I've seen plenty of guys install them backwards because they thought the disc was mislabled.

Wtf?

I'm with Steve, does your input shaft look the same?

It looks to me like the disc was jammed on the input shaft, mis aligned, and therefore spun wearing out the splines on both.....

The splines on the transmission side appear to be just fine. I placed the clutch on the tranny and spun it around manually to ensure it locked in solid. Seemed like a pretty good match. I'll post some pics of the tranny input shaft shortly.

As for the installation of the clutch, the side I show in the clutch pictures should face the tranny, correct?

Your input shaft looks a bit worn to me but I'd probably go with it because the only other option is to find a used trans since no parts can be had new for the Getrag.

As for the disc it's labeled to tell you which way it goes, the new one probably doesn't go the way you think it does.

Your old one was stamped "F/W side", that means Flywheel side so that side went towards the flywheel and the new one should have a similar stamping but it may say "Trans side" or something else.

Whatever it says, trust the stamping on the disc. If you have more questions call me at work although I won't be back until Thursday.

These are the areas I see as a concern on the input shaft that appear to be abnormal wear,

Does the new disc seem to fit snugly to the shaft, no side to side play?

I do have a spare SVT trans sitting in the garage yet. It is a parts only one. The shaft appears to be in better shape than yours.

Those splines appear to have a lot of wear....

You should have no wear on that part normally....

That's a bummer. I was hoping to just start buttoning her back up. Maybe it will work with the part patalrob has available.

That would probably be a good idea, I can honestly say I've never seen that happen before.

Who had this car before you? Makes me wonder how they drove it.

I did't know the seller personally since I picked it up in Florida. It has been a while since I was part of a project with a torn apart transmission. How easy is it to swap shafts? I'm getting to the point where I'd prefer to get the job done by someone rather than do it myself.

That is awesome. I feel better now that I am not alone. That other tranny in Eau Clair showed the same wear profile on the input shaft. I do know that that tranny came out of a crashed vehicle. It looked like it met a deer in a rather ungraceful matter. Whether the clutch was on the wrong way is unknown to me, but I did take pictures.
