Nice svt, what kind of car are you looking to get into?
@ Miller - Thanks! (I think?...) I'm not sure what was going on with your car, but the dealership offered me that much for my car... Do you think that your "racing-type" mods hurt your car's value? Or being 2 years older?
Either way, the car will be available for actual purchase about 2 weeks before my new ride gets to the USA. If not, I will happily leave it at the Subaru dealership and keep the winter tires.

Gas was a little cheaper when he was trying to sell. Gas is on its way up again. So dealers love to have the smaller cars to bring customers in.
Also did they give you trade in value before or after you looked at the 2012 WRX?

@ Patalrob - We (the soon-to-be-wife and I) really enjoyed the Subie. Are you thinking about getting one as well?
Anyways, the radio and speakers are complete CRAP in that car, and will get replaced right away, but everything else was what I expected. I've heard mixed reviews about the standard gearbox, but it seemed great to me. The car we test drove had the short throw shifter in it though. I haven't actually shifted the 5 speed without the STS.
The one thing that I did NOT expect was how smooth the power comes on from the turbo. After driving in other turbo hatches where you feel a rush of power come on and really know when you are under boost (like the Mazdaspeed 3) this car was surprisingly well mannered. It honestly caught me off guard how simply it handled the power. Granted, the car that we drove had only 15 miles on it, so I never stepped into it fully, but I definitely gave it enough gas to spool the turbo a bit.
It seems like you could easily get that car to 300+ hp/tq and still have an easy to drive, daily driver.
