I guess today I bought a Sport Trac. I didn't even know... but I did. Nice to NOT be home and able to manage your wives spending habits.
Has an engine noise... better not have bought something that will need more work than I asked for...

I hate to say it but a 4.0 SOHC with an engine noise can be an absolute nightmare.

If you're incredibly lucky it's just a chain tensioner, if you're unlucky it needs new chains and guides and that means pulling the engine.

That 4.0 SOHC was designed by an unemployed, retarded former snowmobile designer wirth the help of a trained chimp.

I've heard the same. The chains are in the back, aren't they?
This was my worry... but I really didnt have much choice in the matter. Which is my biggest issue with it all.

Doesn't seem like that bad of deal. I'd rock it. Worse case you could buy a used motor with lower miles anyway.

Well we got it for $2800 plus taxes and all.
Sadly ON THE DRIVE HOME... the motor blew... idk. I can't wait to get home and deal with THIS mess now. If anyone has any way of helping before I get there... please let me know and I can give you my wifes number. I'm extremely pissed off right now. i didn't even want it, and we got forced into buying it by my father. He paid for it and will definitely demand for us to pay for it still. I'm at a loss...

home is only a week away...

I'd ask your father to pay for the repairs out of his pocket. It's only fair since he's the one that made the bad choice.

Well... asking is out of the question when it comes to me and my dad... it will be, more or less, me screaming at him, then him screaming back... and then me paying him and for the repairs... Thanks Pops.

Did you actually say buy a used SOHC 4.0?

You may as well shoot yourself in both feet and get it over with.

Let me know whatever you need, parts, Ford reman engine, whatever.

At this point if you're lucky it just needs chains and tensioner sets, I'll check to see if it's an interference engine.

One more point, is it not possible to bring it back? There's ZERO warranty?

I'd be tempted to bring it back and light it on fire in front of their building.

One more thing for you, $2699.00 plus $600.00 core for a Ford reman.

That's $100.00 over cost, not even 10% over.

The Ford reman has a three year, unlimited mileage parts and labor warranty, there is no better warranty out there.

"If" you just need timing parts it's going to be a minimum of about $257.00 just in hard parts, then there's gaskets and the possibility that you'll need a bunch more parts.
