Hi Performance Fusion

Non Focus discussion. Pretty much other cars and off topic stuff.

I saw a first the other day: A recent-generation Fusion with some nice aftermarket wheels. The car looked seriously nice! A little lowering and ground effects would help even more.
I wonder why Ford doesn't offer the Fusion in a hi performance version?

I believe the current Fusion Sport gets a larger engine.

The current fusion has the same 3.0 that it has been getting since the fusion was invented. Only difference on the sport is interior trim, wheels, and side skirts.....that's it. 2012 fusion is completely redesigned......maybe they wil do it then

The problem is, when the fusion came out i think the v6 in that outperformed the mustang with the same engine. They wouldn't want to pull sales away from the mustang. haha. I think that not that the stang is 300 hp, maybe they will have a SHO fusion or something along those lines?

I have a feeling they will go a sho fusion.....remember that all ford vehicles will have an ecoboost option. The v6 that was in the mustang was not the same motor that is in the fusion. Up until 2004 the mustang had an ovh 3.0l.....the same motor that was in the taurus' from 92 till 07. 05 stang got the 4.0l out of the explorer. The fusion has a 3.0l dohc v6 mated to a 6 speed transmission. The mustang has never had a over head cam v6.......only v8's

Not Correct... The Fusion Sport has the 3.5 duratec engine among the other upgrades. Also has optional all wheel drive.

Ford Mustang 4.0 = 210 hp. Fusion Sport 3.5 = 263 hp

Now that the mustang stepped up, so can the fusion.

Again, when my brother was looking at new cars, a guy at the dealership had said because they didn't want a mid size car competing with the mustang. If they offered a manual AWD 260ish hp fusion, the base mustang probably wouldn't have sold very well. Might just be a rumor or fallacy but makes sense to me.

fusion sport is offered loaded with the bigg dohc six, awd, and six spd auto. now one can get the 3d carbon bodey kit instaleed through the dealer. i have drivin a few sports and i feel if they were to ecoboost one as say a svt or sho then this would be the top dog in the fleet, the standered sport is what i would call respectably fast for what it is. mr uotboard the sport as of now is a good well built awd performance sedan. its simalar to the 99-00 taurus se sport opt. that car came with the most powerful duretec 6 and steeeeeeeeeep gears in the transaxle, with this car i staiednose to nose with a LT1 caprice. 8) the old sckool shos(first few hundred of the first gen) were recalled for a detune, powdered trans any one? 8)

Sorry, makes no sense at all in the real world.

Someone shopping for a Mustang isn't cross shopping four door sedans, this was the same argument people used whenever people bring up the Focus ST/RS.

Someone shopping for a hot hatch probably isn't looking at Mustangs OR Fusions.
