Airbox screws(insert nuts).

Anyone ever replace the insert nuts on an airbox. From searching I found that the lack of them unscrewing is a common problem and Ford lists the parts: Nut (insert) = E69Z-9C629-A, Screw = N804449-s100 ,i'll be calling Steve <nudge nudge>). So do you just remove the screw and then the nut pops off, is it that easy? Just wondering because I don't want to have to get a new airbox as I just got this one used.

Those nuts have splines on them and they're pressed into the box, odds are if they spun then the box is stripped and new nuts won't help.

You might try repairing the box by glueing the nuts back in, that's what I've done in the past.

Thanks, I'll try some superglue and see if I can glue myself to it. :D

Super glue or Gorilla glue or epoxy.

Whatever you use be sure you don't get any in the threads and be sure it's dry before you bolt it all back together.

I used some Ace epoxy and also got 2 new airbox screws to replace the 2 hardware ones. I just cleaned it, used the epoxy then let it sit for 16 hours and so far so good. The factory screw seem to thread easier then the hardware ones also so hopefully this won't resurface next time.
