Went bad and threw a code. Will it cause any more problems? Run too rich/lean? Drop mpg? Just debating if I wanna change it any time soon

Yes and yes. You'll lose mpg and the car likely won't run as well.

o2 sensor or cat monitor?
o2 sensor affects the way the car runs but the cat monitor does not.

What was the code.....The actual numbers. Like steve said, the oxygen sensor will effect fuel trims, but the oxygen monitor will not. If you get me the P code I can tell you which one it is

If it went away and hasn't caused any issues then ignore it. But I would check you plugs, maybe some extra unburnt fuel is getting through and causing problems, or it could be a freak occurence.
