The battery in my ’04 SVTF is showing signs of old age. I realize that the car is 7 years old (ouch!). A cupla questions:
1) What is typical life expectancy of the original battery?
2) Any recommendations re: replacement batteries?

seven years is about right if you take care of it. I would highly recommend getting a motorcraft battery. they are great replacements and have a warranty also.

No huge discount on Motorcraft batteries but $96.76 plus a $9.00 core charge and we've got them in stock if you want one Jim.
You know how to reach me.

Battery life will depend on a number of things.
The one in my 07 died in less than 3 years. thing that sucked was I had to get it towed to the dealership since they have to put it on life support (while in the car) and do a bunch of tests to verify, before replacing under warranty. the dealership was nice and picked up the tab,,,lol
my tahoe was about 5 years, it decided to die during the blizzard we just had, go figure.
I always tell people 5 years, if it lasts longer thats great. most of the time 5 years and my batteries go south, no matter the brand.

Stocker, 8 yrs, cranks right up in this ridiculously cold weather. If it dies tomorrow, it would be the best damn car battery I've ever had.

We have a few 2001 ford rangers in our fleet with factory motorcraft batteries. Not all of them, but enough to notice.

She cranked or should I say turned over and started this morning. When she goes, I might just miss her.
