On a standard Zetec they did use different springs from the automatic trans cars to the manual trans cars and those springs were different from the SVT springs.
Really? I can't possibly imagine why
Dunno, I'm just a dumb parts guy looking at catalog listings.

lol... yeah, but I'm a ME, and from an engineering perspective, I can't figure out why that could be. I can come up with reasons of why not...

The cams could be spec'd differently, which is common with older vacuum operated cars, where the automatics would need a higher idle than manuals.

Autozone only lists one melling for intake and one for exhaust...

The SVT ones have to put up with much wilder cams, and probably are the wrong size physically. I would just get the FRPP, they'll outlast everything else in that engine. If you're worried about it. Otherwise I would just go stocl.

From the Melling data that I've seen, it looks like the 2004 ZX3 automatic used
springs that have a longer free length, but a lower spring rate. This will make the
seat pressure a little higher, but the open pressure a little lower than normal.
This is not really what I was hoping for. I'm going to get a few different springs
and measure them. Does anyone have parts numbers for the SVT valve springs?
(Yes, I know they aren't supposed to fit, but I still want to measure them.)
