Is it feasible to run stage ones on a stock tune? There isn't that much of a difference and I'd think that the car would probably be able to adjust enough to be okay. Whadaya think?

I don't see where it'd be a big issue.

Though this 'work' you wish me to do may change all that. Have to try and see I guess. But I can only guess at what this work actually is, think I have a good idea. Either put the cams in for ya or port the head ... both is my hope.

Yup. Were thinking that when we torqued the cam gear bolts on they were covered in oil. After taking it out for a test drive it backed itself out and the intake cam stopped spinning and the gear made a zing type noise. I bent valves on all cylinders, intake side. I'm going to call Al tomorrow and see what he has. If he's got nothing I'll find some thing online.

I guess this is one way I can learn about my car...

Blowing your stuff up is a great way to learn about it. This is something I know all too well.
Let's go boating.

Does the dura use the same stupid style Torx bolt the zetec does?
If so I can see where the problem came from. Mine's slipped too. Luckily it was while cranking and I didn't F anything up. Hell I've got 3 stripped cam gear bolts on the adj gear and I'm praying it holds. Has for the time being, fingers crossed.

But being you bent valves ... buy bigger and get the seats opened up.
I think I was reading that the 2.3 head has a bigger chamber. So stick with the 2.0 head if possible. 2.0 head on a 2.3 raises compression just a bit. If all you can find cheap is a 2.3 head then just shave it down some. Cheap bump in power. .055" cost me $35.

If you need help give a ring (Dan's got my home # I think).

I love Al in the most non-gay way possible. He's already got a 2.0 complete motor head just chilling a his garage. I just have to go down and pull it apart and basically steal the head for $125. After new head studs and all the new gaskets this is looking like it's only going to be a few hundred dollar mistake.
