I know some of you helped out last year and can probably chime in on how much fun it is. I'm organizing the event again this year and it would be great to see some fellow focus owners out there.

It's time again for the Car Craft Summer Nationals held at the Minnesota State Fair grounds. The LOL region SCCA will be running the auto-x and launch box events. The auto-x gets bigger and bigger each year and we expect to see even more participants this year. Volunteers are needed for both the auto-x and launch box. Below is a schedule and positions for volunteers:

Friday July 16th
9:00am - 11:00am course design and set up
11:00am - 5:00pm auto-x and launch box (30 minute break for lunch)

Saturday July 17th
11:00am - 4:00pm auto-x and launch box (30 minute break for lunch)

Sunday July 18th
9:30am - 12:30pm auto-x and launch box
12:30pm - 1:30pm clean up

Positions:
Tech Inspection - inspect cars for safety (there are no performance rules!)
Cone Marshal - run for hit cones and place them back
Starter - waves cars to the start line
Timing and Scoring - run the timing system for the auto-x
Launch Box - run the radar gun system for the launch box

When we are done each day, you're able to stay on grounds to see the show.

Last year was too short. We're hoping for a larger area this year, but if we don't get one, then we'll have some kind of overlap or loop to make the runs longer. Alot of the drivers have never run any kind of auto-x before so we need to keep that in mind also when designing the course. See you out there!

Course was a blast! Wondering if you have a list of times? My best was a 41.649, wondering if any FWD cars ran better.

Saw the R34 beat me by just over .01 today. Give it a shot if it's dry out tomorrow.

I am really going to try and get into the 40's tomorrow as well. It was my first ever auto-x and I beat a LOT of higher hp cars, a porsche, my bro's wrx, etc.

Is it too late to sign up to do the autocross?

You don't sign up. Show up and run. I'll be working on the track. Look for a tall lengthy guy working out there. If I see another Focus I'll wave at the driver.
