electrical woes

Okay so I am driving along and notice my battery light on, battery or charging system... it then turns off. It seems to be rpm sensitive as well turning on when the rpm is low and disappearing when I bring the idle up around 1200 or better. This is intermittent, I have had a battery die on me with another vehicle and this somewhat resembled that scenario. Unfortunately it was late at night and no place near with the battery failing to get the battery tested so I purchased a new one at a local parts place. Put the battery in and all is fine for a short time then the light starts to come on again so... I am thinking alternator due to its rpm related tendencies but will need to get it tested or test it myself. Anyone have any experience with a weakened/failing alternator or what may be the cause? 2006 ZX3 FYI. :?

Thanks,
Brian

Yeah, Duratec alternators seem to have a fairly short lifespan. I'll get you a price in a couple hours when I get to work.
