Car: 02 Black SVT Focus
Location: Mankato

I'm challenging my father (2005 Saleen S281 stock) to see who can put down a better time at the car craft auto-x. My 02 SVT has 55,xxx miles on it currently and I don't have a lot to spend on upgrades. It has a Borla, 67mm TB and a strut tower brace as upgrades. What are some cheap and easy things I can do to help me get around the course just that bit faster.

Oh and neither of us have auto crossed before.

the best upgrade is.... practice!

it don't matter what you have done to your car if you have a dumbass behind the wheel (not calling you a dumbass, just giving example)
you need to know the limits of your car

if you want a little more to help you out you need to get stiffer suspension

Sticky tires would be good. Other than that, practice.

The rear end has a tendency to stick incredibly well. Personally, I would prefer a heavier sway bar. Also, replace any end links that are questionable.

The carcraft auto-x's are a joke. The courses are SUPER short. Go run a MAC event... WAY better courses...

Tires and Suspension are the best buys you can make...

Ram air intakes. JDM fart can. And a Type R spoiler would be the best bets to make super fast times, yo.







LMAO., joking aside, practice, lightweight wheels with sticky tires, practice, stiffer springs and adjustable shocks/struts, practice...

But chances are, stock for stock, with an expierenced driver, you should be able to beat the higher more money horsepower car. I know I've done it countless times.

I agree, the CC auto-x's are short, but they are tracks that can show a driver the basic low-speed fundamentals, like throttle control while turning. I wouldn't call them a complete joke.

They only have so much space to work with...

I'm not worried about how good the course is. We just have a friendly father son wager. My older bro might be getting in with is 2010 wrx. We'll see.
