Mechanical -> Electric fan conversion, worth it?

The one thing I really dislike about my truck is that stupid engine driven fan. I wish they would have come factory with electric fans, but as far as I know they did not. I hate that you can hear the howling of the fan when the truck is going down the road over any other engine noise (I realize this might seem like a silly pet peeve).
I was digging around and found this kit. While I'm sure it could be done for less than $425, it seems like this is a pretty complete kit that has everything one would need to make it perform like a stock setup. I don't know that it would really add the 15-20whp they are claiming, but I do think it would make a noticeable difference in throttle response and overall pep.
Anybody else have experience/comments on an electric fan conversion? The only real con I can think of (other than having to buy/install it) is that it would probably be slightly less reliable then the factory setup. Pro's include; quieter (big one), hp gains, and prettier engine bay
