Dyno'd my SVTF this morning

Well put it on the mustang dyno here at school today and I gotta say I was a little disappointed. I had heard I should be around 140+ stock at the wheels. I have a K+N filter, new plugs and MSD wires. Well I made 124 whp at like 6300 rpm and 112 wtq at around 5000 rpm. I will post up the print out once I get it scanned in.

Are these numbers unusual? What could be wrong?

Yeah I won't be able to put any money into it until this fall again.

A couple years back when I had mine on the dyno, it was 150hp @ 143 tq
K&N SRI & FRPP wires was all I had then.

DSI problem? I tried standing over it and revving it with the TB and didn't see anything move. But then again, I don't know where to look.

140+ WHP is normal - On a dynojet...

Your numbers are right for a Mustang or Dyno Dynamics dyno's. They read about 15%-20% lower than dynojets.

So your car is right where it should be. For example I'm 199whp on a dyno dynamics and am super tempted to get some wicked street cred numbers by dynoing on a dynojet haha, as I'd likely be in the 225 + range...

ok, sweet. This was really only a baseline just to see if my Borla catback and 67mm TB get me anything.

Yep, it's the dyno.

Mine put down 154 hp and 140 lb.ft. on a Dynojet.

The other SVT I dynoed with put down 138 whp and 128 lb.ft. but his was 100% stock at the time and mines tuned.

If you figure an approximate 20% loss through the drivetrain a 170 flywheel hp car should put down about 136 wheel horsepower.

And I can tell you right now that a cat back and throttle body won't show much if any gain on the dyno, a couple HP max but the throttle response and sound will be well worth it.

You need a tune. 8)

I wonder what I'll make now with my tune and other upgrades...

So which dyno do people consider the most accurate then?

If you look at the numbers it's got to be the Dynojet.

Like I said, if a car is rated at 170 flywheel hp it should put down about 136 hp at the wheels given the approximate 20% drivetrain loss.

SVT's seem to be a bit under rated by the factory for the most part, I know Ford/SVT got real cautious about horsepower claims after the issues with the 2001 Cobras being proven to be under the claimed power levels.
